Juki HZL K65 Review
The Juki HZL-K65 is a marketed as tough, hard-working, portable sewing machine. On first view, the simpleness of the design would make it an excellent machine for beginners.
Juki is known for its high standards in producing quality machines, and this quality is not limited to their industrial models. The Juki model HZL-K65 is a household sewing machine that performs beautifully and is affordable price. It is computer-controlled, as opposed to mechanical, but is not complicated to use.
The JUKI HZL-K65 Computer Controlled Sewing Machine is one of Juki’s budget machines, but this doesn’t necessarily mean a compromise on quality. Let’s take a closer look and see if this sewing machine is suitable for you.

Using the Juki HZL K65
This Juki is pretty simple to set up and start using with clear guidelines for threading up.The automatic tension works for most fabrics but, is easy to adjust if needed. There is DVD that outlines all the functions and the instruction manual is fairly simple to follow.
The stitch quality is very good with no skipping, puckering or thread breaking on every weight of fabric users have tried, from sheer silk to multiple layers of denim. It can be operated without the floor pedal, some sewers find this useful.
When it comes to using the HZL K65 for quilting it will do the job. There is no dual feed so it might be more of a challenge than using something like the more sophisticated (and expensive) Janome Memory Craft.
The drop feed dogs mean you can apply free motion quilting to your projects.
Cons
- The throat space isn’t large so larger quilts would need to be rolled pretty tightly. Better suited for smaller projects.
- Feels flimsy compared to more expensive models.
- Plastic bobbin case.
Pros
- Neat stitch.
- Quiet operation.
- Drop feed dogs.
- Inexpensive
- Lightweight (good for taking to groups and classes).
